Rainbow Preschool is part of the Monroe Public School family. Parents must pay a monthly tuition and provide their own transportation. The preschool years are an important time to develop an excitement for learning and a positive feeling of self-confidence. A quality preschool program provides a rich environment, a variety of well-chosen play and educational activities, with caring supportive teachers. A preschool program for 3–4-year-olds focuses on developing foundational skills for future learning, including social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development. These programs use play-based learning, hands-on activities, and structured learning centers to help children explore and learn about the world around them.
Key aspects of a 3–4-year-old preschool program:
Preschool provides a space for children to learn how to interact with peers, share, take turns, and build friendships. Activities focus on early literacy, math, science, and social studies concepts through play and exploration.
Children engage in activities that promote gross motor skills (running, jumping, dancing) and fine motor skills (drawing, manipulating objects). Play is a central component, allowing children to learn through exploration, experimentation, and creativity.
Children are introduced to letters, sounds, and early writing. The program aims to prepare children with the skills and confidence needed for a smooth transition to Young 5’s / Kindergarten.
Examples of activities and learning experiences:
-
Circle time: Group activities like singing, dancing, and storytelling.
-
Learning centers: Designated areas for dramatic play, art, science, and literacy activities.
-
Hands-on activities: Manipulatives, puzzles, building blocks, and art supplies.
-
Outdoor play: Encouraging physical activity and exploration of the natural environment.
-
Story time: Reading aloud and engaging children with books.
-
Simple science experiments: Introducing basic scientific concepts through observation and exploration.
-
