Waterloo hosts MLK Career Day
January 11, 2016 Syndicated from District

Here’s a career day where students will actually dress like what they want to grow up to be.  This Thursday, January 14, Waterloo Elementary School, 1933 S. Custer Rd., Monroe, will host a career day around the theme, “I have a dream like Dr. Martin Luther King that one day I will become a…”

More than a dozen local people will be on hand to talk about their careers.  Invitations were made to employers based in part on what careers the school’s sixth graders were interested in and wanted to hear more about.  Each of the career representatives will be set up at a table around the gym.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, and by the time it concludes at  11:20 a.m., every one of Waterloo’s students – from kindergarteners through sixth grade – will have had 30 minutes to tour the career fair at various times.  Among the careers which the children requested were chef, massage therapist, pharmacist, Registered Nurse, policeman, librarian and bus driver.

Success!
