The Monroe High School Orchestra under the direction of Ann Felder, earned a FIRST DIVISION rating at the MSBOA State Festival on Friday, April 28th, at Manchester High School. The MHS Orchestra was the only performance group of the evening to earn straight 1's in performance.
Bands and orchestras must earn an overall first division rating at the MSBOA district festivals in order to compete at the state level. This year Monroe High School had two music ensembles that qualified. The Monroe High School Wind Ensemble will be competing at Skyline High School on Saturday, May 6th, 2017.
Congratulations Trojans on a job well done!

The Monroe High School Orchestra under the direction of Ann Felder earned a Superior (first division) rating in the Class A division at the Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association District Band and Orchestra Festival held at Livonia Churchill High School on Thursday, March 2. Ensembles present 3 musical selections for a panel of 3 judges and are rated in the areas of Tone, Intonation, Rhythm, Technique, and Interpretation. Ensembles do not compete against other schools but instead are graded against a standard of excellence established by MSBOA. After presenting their prepared selections, the ensembles are then required to perform a piece they have never seen before and are graded by a fourth judge on their sight-reading ability.
Having earned a Superior rating at District festival, the MHS Orchestra will be competing in the State festival in the end of April!
Congratulations on a job well done Trojans!
