Student Schedules - PowerSchool

August 10, 2016

Dear MHS Students and Parents:

Thank you for contacting us with your questions about the schedules which can be viewed through the Power School App.  We understand this has caused some confusion.

However, we cannot turn off Power School access on this app.  When we are working on schedules before registration days, they change daily due to requests, teacher availability and conflicts.

The schedules you will receive on registration days and at freshman orientation will be the most current and accurate.  If you still have questions, the counselor/coordinators will be available in the student service office to assist you.

Thank you for your patience as we work hard to place students in the courses that they requested.

MHS Jazz Band takes top honor 4th time

April 02, 2015

The Monroe High School Jazz Band earned a Division 1 rating in the Michigan High School Band and Orchestra Association’s State Jazz Festival on March 25 as it participated with jazz bands from throughout Michigan.  Division 1, the highest rating possible in a five-point scale, is considered an outstanding performance.

For the MHS Jazz Band under the direction of Mr. James Nuechterlein, this is the fourth Division 1 rating it has received on the state level in the last five years.

MHS soph selected for writing program

April 02, 2015

Monroe High School sophomore Katie Tayler has been chosen to participate in the 2015 Young Women’s Writing Workshop at Smith College in Northampton, Mass.  Students from across the country and from around the world will join Katie at this prestigious two-week summer workshop.  The professors for the workshops are all published writers and poets.

It was quite an honor for Katie to earn this academic award because only a select few students are chosen to participate in this national workshop class.  The workshop will allow Katie to develop her skills as a writer, giving her the opportunity to be trained in various forms and styles of writing.

All of the classes are in workshop style, meaning each class begins with a short segment focusing on a single lesson.  The instructors then work with the young writers who also get open writing time.  At the end of the workshop, each participant will have the start of an on-line writing portfolio and some professional contacts in the literary world.  At night, participants also will get the chance to meet published authors and hear them read and discuss their work.

Success!
